Frequently Asked questions About therapy
What is your approach to therapy?
I offer holistic, trauma-informed psychotherapy for women in Hawaiʻi and California via telehealth. My approach integrates mind, body, and spirit, drawing on EMDR, somatic awareness, emotional parts work, and breathwork to support healing and greater self-trust.
My work is nonpathologizing and grounded in the understanding that our emotional struggles are shaped not only by personal experiences, but also by relationships, cultural conditioning, and broader social systems. Rather than trying to fix what is wrong with you, we work collaboratively to understand protective patterns, process painful experiences, and reconnect with your inherent worth and inner wisdom.
I tailor our work to your needs, with particular experience supporting women navigating complex trauma, motherhood, and intergenerational patterns.
What does your availability look like?
At present, I have appointment openings Mondays and Wednesdays from 1-5pm, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10am-2pm, and Fridays from 10am-1pm.
What forms of insurance do you accept?
I accept Hmsa, Hmsa Quest, UHA, and HMAA insurances. I am not paneled with any insurance providers in California at this time. My direct pay rate is $180/50 minute session, and I am happy to provide a superbill to clients eligible for out-of-network reimbursement.
Do you offer sessions via telehealth or in-person?
I offer sessions exclusively via telehealth for the greatest ease of access.
Can I have my children present with me during our sessions?
Absolutely. The mothers I work with have expressed such relief in knowing that they are welcomed to tend to their children as needed during our sessions, especially during the tender postpartum cocoon. You are most welcome to feed, diaper, and move around with your baby as needed during our sessions. Older children are welcome in the mix too as needed, I truly love becoming a familiar face that my client’s children pop in to say hello to.
What can I expect during our consultation call?
During our initial 20-minute call, I will invite you to share the outlines of your present moment with me along with where you are desiring support. I’ll share more about my approach, answer any questions that you have, and offer a framework of what therapy together could look like. There’s no pressure to make a decision during this call, it’s a mutual vibe check to ensure that I am a good fit for what you are seeking.
I’m not a mother, can I still work with you?
The short answer: wholeheartedly yes! The more expansive answer: I work exclusively with women and specialize in both maternal mental health and complex trauma. I support many women who are not mothers, and find that many are drawn to working with me because the archetype of mother I embody is supportive in healing experiences of being undermothered and stepping into greater emotional maturation of self-mothering. I have a bit of a sub-niche in working with clients who have experienced ongoing child sexual abuse to de-internalize shame and reconnect to safe embodiment. Other clients appreciate that I hold a non pathological lens in therapy, along with strong decolonial values and a systems-critical consciousness. I am also certified in psychedelic-assisted therapy and love holding preparation and integration space for clients working with plant medicines.
Which states are you licensed in?
I am licensed in both Hawai’i and California. If you reside elsewhere and are interested in working together, please contact me about whether coaching might be an option.
